I think my phone is glitching, and I’m glad it did because when I clicked on the latest Hunt Talk episode re Hunting Technology, the wired to hunt podcast photo showed up. At first I wondered if it was a crossover episode, and after realizing my phone is acting up I figure I would share that it would be pretty cool to hear Tony Peterson or Mark Kenyon chat with Randy or the Fresh Tracks weekly crew about summer preparation for public land hunting or land conservation (or truly any topic of your choosing; I’m loving the fresh tracks weekly and the hunt talk podcasts; thanks for making these!)

He asked me to be on his podcast. I did that. Two hours of talk on the topics he is focused on. I thought it was a fun conversation. Not sure when he plans to publish it. We did the podcast a few months ago.

I think Matt is a very smart guy, doing things his heart tells him are important. Not sure he would want to be on my podcast, but he knows the invitation is always there.

I’ll admit upfront that I haven’t listened to all of the podcasts, as I’m pretty new to the forum, but I’m always looking for new content on hunting Columbia Blacktail and hunting the PNW west of the Cascades in general. It’s less popular than other deer, and the coastal west isn’t the “western hunting” most think of, but I’m sure there’s more than just me who’d love to hear what the experts have to say on the subject.

Really enjoyed the Elk Talk episode with KDFWR but would love more content on elk hunting and restoration in non-traditional, Eastern states-- Kentucky, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, Virginia, West Virginia, Tennessee, North Carolina, etc.

I'd like to suggest a couple of podcasts or youtube episodes:

A little bit before season do a safety/first aid prep episode to remind people and help them prepare for accidents and illnesses.

Long distance travel tips and techniques.

An update on the overall mule deer herd health and population trends with Jim Heffelfinger. Also some tips on how to hunt mule deer might be good. Edit: Oops-I see there was a similar podcast in February that I missed.

As aways discussion of elk food, habits, habitat is welcome.

I think another great idea would be to get some folks from the Hunters Education volunteer programs to talk about all the great work that Hunters Ed instructors provide, and what Hunting would be like without them.

I enjoy the podcasts and videos showing how little gear you need to start hunting. I have been hunting for close to 20 years now and have a lot of nice gear. But I regularly enjoy reflecting on the walls jacket and blue jeans from Walmart. I find myself explaining how I started to people anytime I take a new person hunting. Ive learned most people see hunting media or even me with a lot of higher end gear or clothing and think they can’t hunt unless they have that. They don’t understand we didn’t go out and spend $10k on guns and gear the first year.

I was listening to the Protecting Public Ownership of Wildlife podcast and your discussion of the positives of Montana's approach compared to other states made me wonder. Being a native to WI I am familiar, to some degree, to their position on access to water, public land access, easement programs etc. Water rights here out in the west confuse me as a Midwesterner. What about a state by state review of the State's position on these issues. It could be a series wherein you bring in some person from the State to review this and other state specific positions. Keeping it light and informational on the positives as well as negatives so we as active participants can help support further advancements in access and conservation.

I’m sure he’ll love this comparison but MTNPRST reminds me of a certain former, and possibly future president. A lot of his ideas are okay and would be pretty palatable to a wide swath of people if he wasn’t a crybaby, insufferable prick.
