These units are almost out of lions this year as is. Now houndsmen will be able to hunt them November and April if this passes.

I agree. Treating them like vermin isn't the right approach.

It takes a female cat 18-24 months to raise 1-3 young to independence. We can't treat them like coyotes.

I’ve caught lions as by products of bobcat trapping.

One of my friends had that problem while targeting wolves.

They certainly do get angry when they end up in a trap. I’ve seen it a few times.

If you are a deer hunter and farmers complained and the law was changed so that you could just shoot deer 365 days per year, would you not feel screwed? You get a year or two of being able to hunt anytime, then the population is gone.

We have seen our lion population plummet recently due to quotas being removed. Now they want to remove all seasons, further decimating them. Houndsmen can't turn their dogs loose on tracks that aren't there. We take our sport seriously and it's more of a lifestyle raising hounds and hunting them. It is disheartening to see this.

As far as the SE Idaho specific proposals, it'll simply concentrate houndsmen from all over southern Idaho in November and April to kill any remaining lions. All three of those units have good access, plenty of public land and their lion populations have been decimated.

Almost sounds like hound hunters should have a lobbyist in Idaho...I hear good things about having one.
