Idaho F&G considers more ATV restrictions in state

In Oregon, just this last year, it was determined that the department of fish and wildlife has no authority to restrict possesion of firearms. So now during bow seasons (or muzzleloader) a person may carry any type of firearm, along with the bow that they are hunting with. It now specifically spells out in Oregon's regulations that a person may carry any type of firearm, anytime, and anywhere.

Hey Gunner if Ten Bears takes your advise, will you represent him in court for free?
:D

CJ,
We like to call it "pro bono", but yes, I will represent Ten Beers for free. And I assure you, unlike Martha Stewart, Ten will get his money's worth.... :D

WH,
Can Oregon still restrict your caliber? .24 (I think) on Elk, etc. etc..?

Elkgunner, yes they can restrict what you hunt with any way they want. They just don't have any authority to tell somebody that he or she can't possess a firearm. A guy could be hunting with a bow during archery season and also pack a 338, and be legal. However, they do have the authority to not allow loaded firearms on ATV's. I would guess that would only apply during hunting season though. A poacher would be well within his rights to carry a loaded firearm on an ATV if there was no hunting season open. (not sure on that, just a guess)

I'll just keep beggin
Bullhound,
Just pick on of the units, and write a couple of intelligent letters to the commisoners, the regional office, etc... And give reasons, locations of abuse, and how it could be better.

EG,

I've sent quite a few. Had alot of phone, and in person discussions with F&G as well on this issue.

EG, are you serious about the AG's office not having a clue about what they're doing on this? If so, you must have further information on the issue and what the AG's office is doing wrong that you could pass along here. I'd like to here any further info you have.

Idaho doesn't restrict a hunter from carrying a firearm during archery season anymore. I thought that used to be in the regulations, not now. HMMMMMM. ;) Wonder who sued and won? CJ, EG would give me my money's worth alright, and since he would be doing it for free, he might even throw in a new black robe for the judge. :D

I think using atv s in the proper ways makes for a excellent way to get around,im surprized idaho allows off road for retrieval?in oregon they cannot be used off road except in orv riding areas, roads only. And in washington they are not legal even on gravel forest roads,I think that if used where allowed that they keep alot of wear and tear off your truck,.you still gotta get off the roads to get critters consistantly. oregon also doesnt allow any loaded firarms on a atv,but is ok if unloaded.
