Reminder that with the new year, if you want to hunt bear in Idaho you have to take the new bear identification test. It is an easy test, it feels like they are trying to give you the answer when they ask the question. My 3 boys and I did the test last night and all passed. Here is the link to the test.

Any HTer should be able to pass this cold.

But seriously, if you don't need 100% to pass how does this reduce accidental grizzly kills?

Agreed, my 12 year old passed it with ease. I'm going to have my 10 year old do it to see how easy it is for her.

In my opinion, the test is more of a cover your ass type thing for IDFG than anything.

At a minimum it brings more attention to hunters. Also provides some cover for IDFG to at least say they tried, which also helps combat the antis.
Someone that thought they knew but really isn't that experienced may miss a question and realize it isn't always quite as clear cut at first glance and pause to confirm when in the field.
Can you retake the test if a person fails first try? If so would requiring 100% really reduce accidental grizzly kills either?

It's an easy test, nobody should fail but what's it going to hurt to make sure people can identify the right animal? I'm sure theres quite a bit of people out there given situations that have a hard time identifying. Seems like every year there's a grizzly mistakenly killed. But yes someone could basically fail till they pass but maybe it'll just help people be more cautious before pulling a trigger.
