Iconic Ads

"Lean on Me" was probably less iconic for Chevy than "Heartbeat of America" or "Like a Rock," but this version has some local significance. At one point as part of the campaign, they did a search or contest for the "all American man" to represent Chevy pickups. They ended up picking a guy from here that my dad knew well from going to electrical apprenticeship school together. There is a full commercial featuring him, but I can't find it on YouTube. This commercial has some B roll that they must have shot at the same time. I recognize the green bridge from the middle of town, and that's our fire station. I think the guy with the dog on the hood of the pickup is Kenny.

The best part of the story according to my dad is that they offered him a new pickup for shooting the commercial. He did the commercial, took the money,....and bought a Ford.
