I've caught several thousand through the ice in Montana...haven't fished them much in Wyoming, yet.

When my boys were younger we used to bring the Coleman camp stove and do hot dogs or soup or whatever is easy to warm up.

We had a bag full of snacks including doritos and cheetos but I promised him we'd stop for snacks and he didn't let me forget.

That's interesting. I used to catch kokanee out of Flathead lake when I lived in Lakeside. Moved to oregon many years ago and couldn't catch them. So took a class in it and still have never caught one, not even by accident. Kokanee and Steelhead in Oregon both have me spoofed!

Deer Creek Reservoir outside of Park City Utah has been packed with fishermen since the snow storms.

I’ve never used circles but I’ve heard people really like them, going to have to give them a closer look.

I haven’t tried circle hooks yet. I have had good luck with quick strike rigs and placing the two trebles in the middle of the smelt like just in front and through the dorsal fin and have had very few deep hooks

No fish yet, just getting walleye thirty though! Dog is little disappointed how slow it is!

Dang it! If it would ever turn winter here in the Hoosier state I would be doing some hard water fishing. Might just have to head to Wisconsin for a week!

Was up in Montana last week, spent a day with a long time friend of mine fishing a lake I hadn't fished since the late 90's.

Did pretty good

Couldn’t have not caught fish today if you tried. Super aggressive four hours and a limit of pike and a walleye. Didn’t even hit prime time today View attachment 251463

Love frying up some pickerel/pike, some of the tastiest freshwater fish going.

I'm hoping a few higher lakes here will freeze in the next week or so, I have the itch pretty bad

BJ, we used to go up to Gross Reservoir and dangle green label eggs to the stockers in there, but bait for trout snagging has gotten a little more sophisticated than in the early 70's. Since it's part of the Denver water supply I don't know if it's still allowed or if the pothead front range drifters have taken it over.
