I've had a pretty good start to the ice season in northern Wisconsin. Panfish have been aggressive in shallow (less than 10 ft deep) water over green vegetation. I also managed to catch a 56 in sturgeon on a tip-up rigged for walleye. Quite the fight and the largest fish I've ever landed

Just got a new Clam hub shelter and have been out a few times with it. Pretty nice since I am so used to sitting outside, plus it stays plenty warm with myself and 2 labs, no heater needed! Might try putting a cot and rug in there and staying out overnight a couple times this winter

Trout are a ton of fun through the ice. They swim around like sharks. I’ve never iced a grayling, how was that?
The marcum is perfect! Draws a lot of juice but have a atv battery in that bucket and lasts great now. The trout are fun but the lakers and splake are best, they are so aggressive its crazy and you watch them on the marcum going full speed after baits as your realing as fast as u can, like a video game. Probably do some splake this weekend (smoker duty tomorrow) but lakers at gorge are still weeks away likely. I really do miss going after big perch and walleyes(maybe one of you wyo guys can make suggestons)

Same as a trout really. I was only in 3-4 feet of water so the fight was short.

Sure would be nice if I could squeeze in a pre-work trip for walleye and perch like I do for trout. I need to expand my weekend trip radius.
