Kenetrek Boots

I just received my pre-owned 1990-vintage Mossberg 500A1 via Internet order today but some bad news!

Good news! My local gunsmith saved my barrel yesterday. He pulled the choke tube out of the chamber of the field barrel. It was an Improved Cylinder. No damage to the chamber thankfully. It passed his inspection so its safe to shoot. Is for the scratched on the LH side of the recover. He didn't even charge me. Adam, my gunsmith in Lawton, Oklahoma of Adams Automatics, told me that it's aluminum and can't be touched up with bluing like steel. It has to be sent out and anodized by a specialist to get that factory gloss black finish fixed. He told me it can cost up to $300. He only does Parkerizing and Cerakote and his specialty is machine guns. So, my black Sharpie will have to do for now.

ALUMINUM! Of course! Never would've happened if it was tin.

Do tell…has to be an interesting story to an 870 harvested elk.
Not really. Short range weapon restrictions. Got one of those scope mounts that attach with the action pins. 3 inch Winchester slugs group just over 2 inches at 50 yards. My max range. Elk have moved into suburban areas where I live after wolves. Both elk were cows. Shot one from a friend's yard. Another from a neighbors hay field. Freezer filler, you know? Gave a lot away to family since a bull was already dead. mtmuley

Gotcha. Forgot they had the short range stuff in the Bitterroot.

Yes, the pump still rattles. The pumps also rattled on the Mossy 500 and the Mossy 590 I bought new in the 1990's. The Mossberg pumps do NOT pinch my fingers like my Remmy 870 does when stuffing shells in and pulling them out of the mag tube. The military opted for the Mossy 590. It doesn't go to battle unless it rattles. The looseness in the pump means it won't hang up upon cycling. Throwing this Mossy up to my face, both the front and mid beads line up. Should make a great dove gun if the choke tube can be gotten out of the chamber to save the 28" field barrel.
I spent nearly 6 years in an Army Infantry unit during the Iraq "bad" years and we used both 870's, 500's, and Benelli M4's.
We broke ALL OF THEM.
Dunno that I ever saw a 590 personally but I know that they were around.
