I just need a few tips on turkey hunting

Biggest tip for a new turkey hunter is to sit really effing still. If he is coming in, do not move unless his head is behind a tree. They have zero curiosity.

Also, Missouri is the best state for turkeys. Their 1pm rule keeps turkeys acting like turkeys.

Good luck.

1 pm rule is over with. You can now hunt Missouri birds all day.

You should video yourself calling a turkey in so close you can grab it.
Don’t underestimate this dude, he went into deer season last year literally with 5 rounds total and had never ever shot a deer. Everyone told him practice up and wait another year….

Instead- Shoots two rounds to make sure he’s sighted decent. One week later he’s got his first deer and 2 rounds to spare yet! 🤣🤣🤣

Very pretty green out there! I believe you, TJ!

What do you mean 1 pm rule?

Lmfao forgot to mention my rifle was shooting 10 inchs to the right at 50 feet and so when I shot my first doe I didn't even have the cross hair on it and I hit double lung heart and then with my buck he appeared so quickly I just shot and somehow dropped him instantly and the wacky part is I never found the hole or bullet . There was a little blood on the inside but no broken ribs

I hope you have since bought another box and made some scope adjustments? …Steering towards the hole on the target… Don’t go into this deer season that way again buddy. 🤣

You’ll get a bird, I’m confident in ya.

Thanks I think I'm pretty prepared I think to hunt turkeys this year plus I have a month or so to prepare and I've been catching up on videos of how to hunt them so that's where the turkeys are 😁 now as for the deer I am gonna buy a new scope and some more ammo for this year. Which If I tackle the turkey hunting then just wait for the next thing I'm gonna try 😁 a little hint is I've mentioned 4 times so far

I didn’t read all the comments, but don’t be afraid to use a ditch or cover to sneak them. Yes they have good eyes, but if they are locked up and won’t come closer sneaking closer and calling again has killed a lot of turkeys for me. I don’t waste time calling turkeys that won’t come in, call, if they don’t move, move to them. You can’t move when they can see you but don’t be afraid to when they can’t.

Also depending on how dead set you are on killing one vs calling one. The old “fix bayonets” and charge them works good when they spin and are facing away from you strutting. I don’t use it anymore, because I like to call them close. But like antelope they take a second to realize what is going on and what they are seeing so you can gain 10-15-20 yards on them pretty quick. I don’t recommend this in mud or uneven terrain.
