I have NEVER shot a mule deer! :( ..... Would love some input on where to chase my first one.

Not me. My 400elk handle is a long running joke with friends. I have never hunted in MT and never applied. My wife is from Missoula…that is as close to hunting in MT as I have ever been.

Montana general has a lot of good options especially if your not looking for a specific size. I hunted eastern montana near Broadus and while it was a little crowded on the roads, we had a lot of country to ourselves just by hiking a mile or two. It also offers the opportunity to hunt deer in the rut which his fun.

Take a unit map of Colorado, tack it up on a dart board and grab yourself a dart.
If you like hunting public land, hope your dart lands West of I-25.
Then start your research

Colorado is the answer. Or go ahead and burn the Wyoming points if you aren’t trophy hunting.
I’d use your Kansas one buck a season tag for a whitetail unless you have great access for Kansas mule deer.
