I found an old carbine barrel

I found this old carbine barrel in the woods today. It looks like it still has part of the falling block receiver. Maybe a Sharps military carbine? Anyone have a clue?

No doubt. I looked for several hours moving dirt and leaves to try to find more parts of it, no luck. I've got the spot marked on my GPS. I'll go back at another time.

Good deal. Maybe get a metal detector. I just think “finds” like this are fascinating.
