I know some great cattle folks and many of them do plan gathering cattle mid Oct or so, mostly due to weather.

In my part of CO, grazing cattle on USFS leases have to be removed about Oct. 1. Lots of Rawhide activity @ the end of Sept. on the nat'l. forest.

I have learned that fish cop's eyes glaze when you mention just about anything except Samson. In fact, mention illegal atvs or harassment & get ready to have your license checked.

I used to get harassed floating the east Gallatin down to chunk of state land to set out decoys. It was the owner or owners son of Gallatin River Ranch. We always asked him to meet us at the take out but he never showed and he never called the cops . He was just a world class asshole. I no longer float the east because of the hassle and have found better places.
