Kind of worried that he never made it to the Hunt. What was the final elk slaughter success ? And deer taken ? How many totaled the gathering ?Was there enough food there ?

From what I read he finally arrived in Idaho on Monday of the hunt. From the sounds of it he must have had a difficult time figuring out how to cook for all the men. You should go read it over on the NAHC boards.

I haven't read all the particulars but it seems that he burns the food and has a tough time making coffee.

I think this the entire hunting platoon.

However I don't have any first had knowledge of any events at this GT and only posted what I read. The statement constitutes a hold harmless agreement and specifically precludes all references to ass kicking or alzhiemers. Blah, Blah, Blah.

Mooseman- This was taken from his site:

Idaho "Big Game" Hunt 2004
Ten tags and five kills! This years tally included four elk and one whitetail! Among those who scored elk were two Ohio boys Pastor David Wells and his son Sheriff's Deputy Travis Wells of Newport Ohio. Way to go Ohio!!
Funny thing is there is not a single picture of any of the animals taken  ...maybe they were all quartered and stuffed in a Dutch Oven somewhere?

...I was lookin' for a HuntTalk hat and some points for Tom LOL

There's no reason not to have coffee. I see at least three women in those pictures..

LOL danr...Can't really tell on a few of them...then there's the guy in the homemade bath robe ;)

....wonder if the good Corporal knitted that for him??

That is not a bathrobe - it is a capote (ka-pote). It is a coat made from a Hudson Bay trade blanket, usually the 4-point size. This one is the orignally more common long version - they also appear in a jacket length version. The blanket is most commonly off-white with 3 or 4 multi-color stripes, but red and green with a single black stripe are also common.

Native Americans and fur trappers commonly wore these in the North woods. I have one myself. They are quite warm and semi-water repellent.

cool group I's say... Age jumps from 3-8 then from 65-90 ;)

4 elk of 10 guys aren't bad odds though. Were any nice bulls ?

Cali, if you wore something like that around my camp We'd kick your A$$ !!! ;)

Cali...I was just being (who me?) sarcastic (hence the added ;) )Actually my boss has one of those things he likes to parade around in when he buffalo hunts every couple of years!

....he's like 6'5" and about #210 and looks like Icabod Crane in a house-coat. I keep thinking about getting him some matching slippers  ....but, as Moosie said, maybe he just needs a good ass kicking LOL!

danr LOL!

Notice I said:

maybe he just needs a good ass kicking

"I" am nowhere to be found in that sentence ;)
....thought maybe the camp kooks could do it for impersonating an officer or somethin'

From Ohiocampkooks.com,

This week's very special recipe is for "Fire Brand Ham" or "Blazing Arnold" A creation of pure carbon worthy of center stage for celebrating Passover because it is nothing more than a Burnt Offering! Yes, this is my disaster which recently occurred at the Idaho Annual Big Game Hunt where I was the honored chef ! I did it, I don't know why I did it; but I did it. I took the most beautiful 17 pound cured, lean, ham I have ever seen and lovingly sliced a diamond pattern into the less than 1/4 inch cover of fat. I prepared a delicious glaze to administer near finish time. I eagerly built up the fire with maybe five or six hundred pounds of cedar encouraging beautiful red glowing coals to develop. I tenderly wrapped "Arnold", that's what we named the pig when we bought him, in two sheets of heavy duty aluminum wrap after rubbing him with a brown sugar, clove, and mustard seasoning. I then gently slid him into the live coals and buried him. And I left him alone for "four hours at about 14,900 degrees centegrade!" The result; a carbon lump that I am sure will become a diamond in less than two years! Yes, I had undoubtedly lost my mind! The sad thingis that I was still not convinced that my actions were improper until sometime the following morning. A clear indication of brain damage, or possibly over exertion and a serious need for sleep [I think that is a sign of the mid stages of Alzheimers] :D .

So my recipe for this week is to begin "all" recipes in a fresh, rested state of mind! See you next Friday with the beginning of November and a genuine baked ham recipe in preparation for the holidays. In the meantime, may God bless and all your hams turn out tasty!!

Is that a Sharp tail or a ruffed ? Sharptails you need a permit or something ? I don't hunt either so I don't know. Hope they didn't use a rifle

No, I think it's cool that they came all this way and sounds like they did good. I was just wondering about the caliber of bulls and bucks they took was all.
