How many grains are in an ounce or pound???

I am trying to get an idea of how many shells I can reload with a bottle of powder. I am sure it will vary a little, but if I can get the conversion rate, I can do the math with my different loads.

Dale.....One grain equals 1/700 of one pound. To reverse this: 1 pound equals 700 grains weight. An ounce is 437.5 grains.....Pop a cap for me!

I think you mean 7,000 grains to a pound.

437.5 x 16 = 7,000.

When I'm loading up my .338, the powder does seem to disappear quickly, but not THAT quickly.
