Interesting. Looks like it will work well. Can you take some photos of the back? I am interested in doing pedestal euros. I would suggest having someone make you another base that fits on the mantle better (maybe square rather than oval). Any cabinet shop should be able to whip out something almost as you wait. And I'll post a pic today with how to instructions for a flush mounting hanger for back of plaques. It is designed for hanging euro plaques on the wall but would work equally well for keeping the back of this plaque anchored to the mantle. There is a special router bit for in inletting flush mounting holes in plaques but I don't advise it for something this heavy. Wood will break away and trophy falls on the floor. A lot of taxidermists use that method but I don't trust it.There she is. I am keeping the zip strip on until I feel everything is steady up there. It is a little wobbly.
Shoot another buck and you would have had a nice set of bookends. But it would require a big desk/table. Interesting idea though. Thanks.Recently mounted my first Euro mount.
Wood is a 1×6 out of an old house.
I sanded it down just enough to remove the "rough" and leave the saw marks.
