House Republicans Vote to End Hunting in ID, MT, WY, UT, NV, and CO

I walked out of a turkey banquet a loser Fri. night, then walked out a loser Sat. night from an Elk banquet Sat. night" Not complaining at all"
I have yet to figure out what public lands are being talked about for certain.

OK, One thing I think is Basic to the way I support the places I visit out west is to constantly remind those we elect to office whose lands they are guarding for us. I do this through E-Mails and Land Mail. Also if you study what is taking place today and have an idea that could spark a positive Debate, share it with people who know people that way part or all of an idea can be brought forward to help everyone, east or west. As far as that goes I have spent 8-10 grand on RMEF causes. (This is where it sounds like bragging, but you asked.)
I know for a fact I am small fry when it comes to what some of my friends efforts and money spent on RMEF. I also help out if there is someone needing my services for a Conservation cause. That is just what myself, one Easterner does for the West. Just think of how many Westerners do nothing close to that and yet they use the Public Lands all year long. John

your right and im sorry for that. heres my meaning, in my experience people from the east dont understand large undeveloped landscapes of hte west and the large animal herds and the importance of their migration patterns. in the east the best habitat is often on smaller lands, usually private, that are managed intensely. so what i see is just a lack of comprehension by easterners. this is based on my extended family who are all from the east coast and the people I have worked with and met over the years.

Generalizations usually get you into trouble.:D I personally understand exactly what you are saying and I agree with you about keeping our public lands public. I think people need to educated about the facts, before they form an opinion. I think most people worry way too much about which "team" they are on (democrat or republican), and they get too emotional before learning all the facts. We need to all work together to educate the people and save our wild lands and our heritage. Future generations must be able to enjoy what we have. We need people with common sense running our country, and unfortunately I don't have faith in the ones we have now or the ones running for office. Maybe we need to start the hunting and fishing party.

Very good, glad to know what your part has been. Thanks for sharing that info.

I suppose that Obama's Federal Land proposals where hunting and access to those public lands would be better???????????

BTW, we also have Federal lands down here in the South East, and there are already too many restrictions for hunting that make it not worth the effort. I also see that much of the money I donate to DU, and the NWTF seem to be spent in Western and Canadian areas instead of the East and South, but I consider that as an investment in hunting that benefits all hunters.

As a small landowner, I spend more on food plots and deer management than a lot of people do on hunting licenses, but I don't expect my share of Pittman-Robertson taxes to be spent on the basis of which part of the country pays the most into those wildlife taxes.

I don't see the point of the title either. Maybe all the zeros when discussing trillions has Jose confused.

Try thinking about it like this:

You make $23,000 a year but you spend $36,000. Not having enough cash you charge the difference to your Visa. Not a great scenerio but the bills must be paid.

The downfall becomes the $13,000 annual shortfall is now being added to the $160,000 you ALREADY have in credit card debt.

See Jose, all you need to do is subtract a bunch of zeros and everybody can understand the math and why we need to balance our budget.

Not sure why simple people always seem to equate a federal budget to a family budget. Different animals.

But, if you insist, I am guessing there is nothing more stupid than selling off one of your kidneys, then selling off a couple of your corneas, then selling a lung or two..... Yeah, you might balance your budget for a day or two, but life is going to be pretty shitty.

RD, The OP only wished to stir things up. That Budget has no way of making it through intact, period! And that easterners crap is getting old, you have no idea what those of us that work and live in the east do to make sure there will always be wild places to go to. But, your welcome. John

Then why is Romney parading around with the ass-clown Ryan?

Keep your head in the sand if it helps.

RD I have read that article three times and I dont see anything about selling off all the federal land. Am I in favor of selling it off, no. Would I be willing to sell some federally owned items to downsize government, probably. Do I want to see the budget get balanced, absolutley.

We are on the fast tract to destroying the very way of life we have enjoyed before our kids and grandkids have the same opportunity. Quite frankly that disgusts me.

I am not sure what else to say but to correct such a huge problem EVERYONE is going to have to give a little. Even those who are so fortunate to have access to all the land us easterners are so envious of.

You might want to edjumacate yourself on My Public Lands, the Ryan Budget before you try and defend selling off My Public Lands and the ass-clown Ryan's method of providing tax breaks for billionaires and millionaires.

We have plenty of threads on this site that discussed Romney's plans for My Public Lands, his fund raisers at private clubs with Big Oil, and the Ryan Budget and its treatment for selling My Public Lands.

Better believe it. We have had 3.5 years of Obama and I have yet to come across any where that I lost access to hunt on My Public Lands. It is far better to rely on the guy with a proven track record of not selling My Public Lands than to support a guy who is promising to sell My Public Lands.

Please share what these "restrictions" are that make it not worth it.

And why do you spend that money on baiting deer?

This is what happens when you vote on a single issue, you end up with Obama. I doubt that you would ever vote for a republican. I have alot of people that live near me with the same mindset, and some are my friends.

Door swings both ways.

Add the missing eight zeros and the numbers match our federal budget.

Keep telling yourself that the federal budget is a different animal until the music stops (think Greece, Spain, Portugal, etc). Its going to be fun times when interest rates go to 18%. Heck the 50% unemployment for people under 25 that exists NOW in those countires sounds just great. I cant wait for my kids to enjoy all the bounties of a bloated bureaucracy...

Our country is selling bonds and buying them with money we are printing. If you don't think something tragic won't occur from these actions, I have a house that I would sell you for the 2009 appraisal.

But hey, at least we can go visit Jose and hunt on free land!

If simple, meaningless budget analogies help you justify the parts of your life you waste listening to AM radio, don't let me bother you.

And, if you think Romney is going to be the answer, then you are purposely being ignorant. Even the Cato Institute thinks Romney is a liar.

WASHINGTON -- Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney is making campaign promises that could produce an economic miracle – or a more predictable list of broken vows.

Romney says he wants to put the nation on a path to a balanced budget while also cutting an array of taxes, building up the Navy and Air Force and adding 100,000 active-duty military personnel. He says he would slash domestic spending and reduce tax loopholes but has offered few details.

His comments raise eyebrows in Congress, long accustomed to easier-said-than-done promises. And even some conservatives have their doubts.

Christopher A. Preble, a vice president for the libertarian Cato Institute, says Romney's promise to push military spending to 4 percent of the national economy would require dramatic increases that would raise, not lower, the federal deficit.

Citing "the absurdity of Romney's plan," Preble wrote recently that the candidate "hasn't said what other spending he will cut, or what taxes he would increase."

"Until he does," Preble wrote, "it is logical to conclude that he plans to pile on more debt."

Yeah, let's add 100k to the military, cut taxes, and then see how much the deficits increase....

Sorry, but I think I will vote for the guy that wants to protect my rights to hunt on My Public Lands and not vote for the guy that wants to SELL My Public Lands AND increase the deficit.

Vote for whoever you want. Just don't try to sell me on the fact adding $5,000,000,000,000 in new debt, as we did in the last three and a half years, is a sustainable path.

Unfortunately for all of us the fat lady is singing.

Republicans don't add any new debt? This problem just came about in the last 3 and half years? If you watch something other then Fox News you would know that the Bush administration spent like drunken sailors. All the people running this country are idiots, no matter what party they belong to.

Your right, Bush too much spending the last couple of years of his presidency. Obama bash him for it in the 2008 election, rightfully. Obama has now made Bush look like a spendthrift.

So how are you planning to hunt when Obama and the libs pass their gun control bills during his next term, as he promised to do in his last campaign? You might also try reading Obama's stated aims and intent, instead of ranting against sound, sane, fiscal responsibilities. It's a simple correlation to relate intelligent house hold budgeting to the Federal budget. If the majority of people over spent with their personal budget in the same way as the Feds, There would have to be ten times the current bankruptcy courts!

Also, in answer to your question about baiting deer. Everyone baits in one way, shape, or form. If you hunt a ridgeline, scrapeline, water hole, during the rut, while using doe scent, near Oak or other mast trees, near an agricultural field, or any other naturally occurring deer attractant, you are using bait! It just so happens that down in my part of SC, I also legally put out corn piles and mineral licks for bait, because it's LEGAL! Hunting in the swamps and trying to kill deer require two things........dogs, and bait.

Also, just to satisfy your doubts, the Federal WMAs down here require any one who wants to hunt must procure a map and permit (albeit at no cost) off of the internet. There is NO OTHER WAY to get those. Also, only archery, black powder, and shotguns with slugs are legal for hunting. Everywhere else, we can use any legal method of taking game, and we normally do not use slugs for deer hunting, but instead use buckshot if hunting with a shotgun. There is also a requirement that in order to access those Federal WMAs, access must not cross private property, including any that we may own or have legal access to! This means that for me to get onto those properties which are located in my area, I have to use a boat and travel down the Savannah River about 5 miles one way. After reaching the WMA, I then have to slog through a swamp for about a half mile, in order to get into a suitable area that is legal to shoot in.........since it's illegal to fire a weapon in the direction of the river.

You are correct. Bush added four trillion over eight years to the national debt (not good by any measure). I just kinda figured adding five trillion over the last three and a half years was accelerating our demise. If I am going broke I prefer to do it slower.
