Hopes on New Mexico

Who pinning all there hopes on the great state of New Mexico?
I’ve been shut down in Arizona, Utah, Wyoming and even Montana! Points only in Colorado. New Mexico is my last best hope for a good archery elk tag this year.
After that, I still have the real long shot of a California tag, max points puts me in with a couple of thousand others trying for 10 Rocky Mt. elk tags up near Shasta.
Hey Marv, and you other California elk hunters, did you notice the two “San Louis” tags this year? Pretty tempting, archery or shotgun slug only. About once a month, the whole herd comes down and grazes out in front of the dam, right along side of H-152. Can you imagine the look on the bunny huggers faces driving over Pacheco and someone is standing in front of the dam, full camo with a bow and a dead bull?

Even though I drew Wyoming elk, I couldn't resist and put in for the those really high draw odd rifle tags in the Gila. Not a snowballs chance, but just had to, ain't get any younger.

A-Con I have, in fact, thought that VERY thing!

I'm really torn this year, thinking about deviating from my Big Lagoon or Modoc apps. to try for that muzzleloader hunt in Colusa County. (East Park Res.)...Only thing that irks me is that it's one tag issued so it goes in the general draw (not the points draw) but if you draw the tag you loose all your points anyway |oo DFG

Usually the years I "don't want to draw" I throw in for Grizzly Island

I take it you are "max" for elk points, like me and about 8,000 others ?

So far, nothing in Arizona, pts for Colorado, and hoping for New Mexico. Put in for some tough deer and elk hunts. I hope New Mexico sucks for someone on here...

I don't know why I don't put in for the Shasta area hunts....maybe I feel like I need to drive farther to hunt elk Yep I'm max points for elk and speedgoat. If I EVER do draw in Cali I'm done...won't be sending good money after bad for something that DFG has turned basically into a once in a lifetime opportunity

I' screwed for deer- drew the 2nd year with a buddy for X3B so now the view is of all the big arses ahead of me....
