Hope any Gulf Coast Hunt Talkers are hunkered down

No. There are about 12,000 poles to be changed. Most of the substations are just gone. Most of the transmission lines are down. That is just one electric provider. Out of 3 in Calcasieu Parish. Estimate of about 6 weeks before power is restored.
Daughter & SIL live in Sulpher. Sounds like they may be with us a while longer. More time to spoil the grandson, darn :)

I was working around there yesterday. The south side of sulphur around the plants looked like it had power and things were much better than last week. New power poles, traffic lights, and a few service businesses open. Still a long ways to go before things are good but it’s getting there. Better spoil that boy while you can.

I haven’t heard of any WMAs or NWRs closing but Rockefeller Refuge which is Near the coast and Kisatchie NF, multiple districts throughout central Louisiana.

Yup slowly but surely. Been a lot of progress made down here. Still no power where I am staying but am sitting at a friends whose power came on a couple of days ago.

A couple of things that have stood out is all of the people generously giving away food, water, ice, and supplies when some of them lost as much in the storm as anyone.

On the opposite end of the spectrum, if people would just try and stay out of the way of the crews out here trying to get power back on this process would move a lot quicker.

Their power came on Thursday, I think. They went home Friday and left the boy here so they could clean up. House was in good shape, which was surprising from the video and pictures they sent, the area took a beating. Trees down everywhere and a whole lot of blue tarps being used on roofs.

Well the power came online tonight at the house in Sulphur we are using as our command center and sleeping quarters. No more tending three generators to keep comfortable.

We are pretty excited.
