I'd like to build a gun vault/closet and store my guns on/against one of the walls. I assume I'll do something like the pic below, but wondered what everybody else is doing in case there's a better idea I hadn't thought of. Thanks for the input.

mine are in a safe...not bc I think it deters a thief or stops fire damage, but to keep them out of the hands of my kids (and their friends or anyone else that shouldn't be handling firearms).

But yeah, if I didn't have that concern then something more aesthetically pleasing would be cool. Interested to see what suggestions come up...

The room is a concrete room with a safe door so I'm not worried about kids/fire/theft. I'm mainly looking for a good way to store them where they'll be easily accessible and free from moisture, etc...

I've considered the picture above or more like a pegboard with them hanging horizontally. Any benefits to one way vs the other?

It's a narrow room so I don't really have a lot of room for cabinetry (and my guns aren't really display pieces).

I'll probably put the guns on one wall and some shelving on the other wall, just trying to figure out how best to do it.

Mine are in a safe with golden rod dehumidifying as the room is off the garage and un-conditioned. It has a milk heater but no cooling. I'd like something in-house and more presentational.

We have something similar to your first post, but used contrasting woods: walnut and birch. Use lighting to better display your rifles/shotguns.

Place a few Remington/Winchester prints on the walls, throw a couple of skull mounts around, and you have a classy space.

All rifles are worthy of display.

I had as much fun with a $6 Shakespeare as I have had with a Winston.

get rid of the cabinets below and put a row of guns along the floor or a couple of inches above it. Then add a second row of the same. Bottom row can be shotguns and the top row rifles, or the reverse (whichever are shorter for you on the bottom).

Really the cabinets was my favorite part but I don’t have a pile of guns and could use that space for other things

Sounds like you need to get to work in the gun markets and plan ahead
