Due to the price of oil, Alaska is entering a period economic pain and suffering, which will ripple though out the state. The Alaska State budget is based mostly on the price of oil. In the 80's oil dropped below $10 a barrel. Many homes foreclosed on, strip malls and businesses closed, and local banks went under. Work, jobs were scarce and paid market value for jobs, if you had one. After a few years oil came back, the market came back. This world wide economic shut down and low oil price is going to hurt a lot of working Alaskans and those that depend on government to make ends meet. Anchorage gas is around $2.40 gal
Oil + tourism is going to be a really double whammy

Is all these prices you guys are posting the gas with corn in it? Hopefully with all the cheap oil it will put the corn ethanol out of business for good.

I like every enjoy cheap gas. Usually more so in hunting season when I’m driving more. But as many businesses are hurting now with the COVID stuff people in the oil industry will be hurting too. Some producers are starting to shut in lower producing fields, other others are keeping running to break even or negative expense for now because the cost go get back running is so great.
It isn’t the CEOs that will be hurting and missing bonus checks, but regular people making a living. And in many places as @BearFoot mentioned there will be a ripple effect.
