Had to spend last weekend in Helena, and stopped by the hatchery at Henry's on the way up. The Cuts were backed up in the lake trying to get up the ladder and in to spawn. Few of them were almost clearing the gate, fun to watch.

I love fishing Henry's....can't wait for Memorial Day

We live spawn wild winter steelhead at my hatchery and put numbered spaghetti tags in all of them before we release them back into the river so we know if they return again in subsequent years. I've never seen a tag as small as that green spot looks but that is where it would go. The base of the dorsal is tough enough for them to stay in for a long time.

We used to spawn little cutts like those. Tedious work!

How about a few pics of those big chrome rockets!

Here are a couple of the offspring of the wild Nestucca Winter Steelhead we live spawn...

And here is a big wild girl I released!

I will get a few pics of tagged fish from work today to post. We have been spawning every week for a month or so...

Awesome photos.

I have a shack about 5 miles north of Henry's Lake on the Montana side of Reynold's Pass.

I don't know how many times my brother and I have said to one another, "We should buy a couple Idaho fishing licenses and head down to Henry's Lake". I think most people would be surprised at how shallow that lake is.

The Henry's Lake Mountain Range are some of the most underappreciated mountains in Montana IMO.

I know exactly where you are talking about, drive through there all the time. I love the area from Reynolds Pass to Three Forks, through Ennis. Our cabin is the other way, down past Island Park.

We hit Henry's quite a bit, "deep holes" are few and far between, with the deepest being 18 ft., most of lake averages about 10-12.

You have some nice little lakes on your side as well, I plan to hit Cliff and Wade lakes with a kayak a few times this year.

If you and your brother decide to scratch that itch, let me know
