Leupold BX-4 Rangefinding Binoculars

Help me spend my bonus

Having trouble spending money sounds rough! What do you do for a living and are you hiring?
Maybe spend it on a vaca with the wife in the beach!

I'm in the same boat and we have been considering buying a 5 year old or so excavator for awhile to have some fun around the yard. We are actively looking and likely putting the bonus there. Do you need something to dig with? They sure are fun.

Digging trenches and building trails. Handy machine.

Only makes sense if the machine makes money. Otherwise, get a sports car. mtmuley

Bonuses came out and they're.... um, good. I'll throw most if it at investments and savings for future real estate, but there is room for a frivolous new purchase.
Options:
Truck Cap: I debate this every year, it would be great most of the time, but I'll still need to take it off for firewood and xmas tree, and occasionally dirt/rock hauling.
Kevlar/Carbon Canoe: I have a fleet of used canoes, but all are plastic or fiberglass. Haven't used them as much as I hoped as the girls prefer paddle boarding, and my son prefers the sit-on-top 'yak. But I still have hope.
Mt Bike: Currently rocking a 2003 Yeti 26-er. Both shocks need to be rebuilt and a tune up. But literally everyone tells me the geometry on new bikes is worth upgrading. I was biking way more in the past, but didn't even touch it this last year as all my time was devoted to running.
Rifle Option 1: Fancy long range shooter. I have a tikka 270 that I hunt with, it checks all the boxes for an all-around rifle. But it's not a 600 yarder. Probably in manbun caliber or something similar.
Rifle Option 2: Smaller caliber gun/pronghorn gun. Like a 25-06 or 257 roberts, maybe 6mm (so I can be cool like buzz). Older, woodstock, but still needs to be a shooter.
Rifle Option 3: Old ass level gun in 30-30. No idea if I would ever shoot it, but damn they're cool.
Rifle Option 4: Have Pham modify either the 270, or a 300 WM (I've been telling myself I'll do this for years), add new barrels, stock, and suppressor.
Pistol (or 2 or 3): I don't have one... seems like a gap.

Random other ideas?

If I can't come up with anything, I'll just add it to savings, but that's not nearly as much fun.

New rifle or mt bike, Merry Christmas ya filthy animal (y)

I went 18 years without a topper on my old truck. When I got my new truck 5 years ago I decided to put a topper on it. Some of the best money I've ever spent. I have two totes full of camping/hunting gear that never leave the truck now. Absolutely love it.

I will say after a few months now of having no kids at home, even the shitty vacations were good ones.

Go on nice vacation with the famjam.

I'm taking the wife and kids on a sick trip to Iceland this summer. We splurgin'!

Things are neat, memories are better.
We're already:
Spending a week in the Eastern Serrias with my family
5 days on the East Coast
River trip
Backpacking trip

I get that trips are cool. But I'll counter, and ask why? What is going to make Iceland cool with your family? From my experience when your kids are young it's just about doing new stuff together, which can totally be cheap and local. As kids get older, and they've already acquired an amount of experiences, good and bad, and they're capable of actually engaging in a place, then it's the time for extravagant travel. I'm not there yet, another couple of years.

It's like... You don't waste good wine (or whiskey) on a 21 yr old. They're not capable of appreciating it yet. That's the same approach I take on vacations with the kids. When they're in HS and college I'm sure we'll go all over. But not now.

I work for a mid size engineering firm. And we're always hiring. But good employees are almost impossible to find

Python. mtmuley
I’ve got a Colt trooper MKIII in .357. Not a python but still a fun shooting colt. It’s at a gun smith now to have a 4” barrel put on it so I can start carrying it around. Thought hard about just getting a 10mm Glock.
