-Today it slow cooks in water and a 1/2 cup of 20 mule team borax. Then into clean water with a couple tablespoons of dawn dish soap to de-grease. I will have it 100% clean by this evening.

Congrats those look good I think I could manage to get it done fairly quick if I can have done atleast even by 9 tomorrow morning then that'll be fine also what did you paint it with?

Congratulations on your first buck. I read some of your early posts and you’ve been working hard. I would go with TOGIE’s recommendation were I you. It’s your first deer. Boiling water is boiling water, if you don’t have the situation to keep a large pot, big enough to hold the cleaned head, boiling for half a day, you’ll screw it up.
Good luck!
Thanks I've been trying hard for the last few years and it's certainly a big accomplishment to get where I'm at and yes I think I will go with what TOGIE has said but I'm also gonna try some of the others recommendations and mix it up a bit and see how it goes

Could I boil it then spray it down with a hose ?
For sure, but as mentioned by someone else, if you have a self serve carwash nearby, go there and pressure wash it off.

Just make sure the owner isn't there. I got kicked out of a self serve carwash before in college for washing my truck after a goose hunt that ended up being a muddy one...

Oh I bet lol I actually just got back from town if I would of thought of that then I would of took the antlers with me ill run back though later and do that but right now I still gotta skin the head up since I didn't get done with processing until midnight almost last night

Reminds me of when I was younger. A bunch of us went mudding all day and then hit the car wash when we got back to town. Every stall ended up with about a 4 inch layer of chunky mud laying in it!

I avoid car washes I personally just run the hose over my truck but I don't get it as muddy as some

Yeah... that's about what happened. It was coming off in CLUMPS and apparently the owner was there and basically told us to get out... A guy can't really hose a truck off anywhere else when you live in a dorm or apartment!

Also I know everyone wants pictures of the buck. So here it is and the story on it is. It was 4:30 and i promised i would be home by 5 and i was hunting the same woods that i got my first doe in but all season i only seen 2 does and 1 small spike. So i waited where i was till about 4:40 and i decided i would move over to a small field just a few feet away but i couldn't see in to it so i walked over and was leaning up against a cedar tree and in this field was nothing but sage grass and deer like sage grass to lay in so i figured i had a good chance at something and so i stood there for a few minutes when all of a sudden this buck(the one i shot) came bouncing up the field and so with my rifle ready i took aim and sent 140grains of 7mm his way causing him to collapse on spot. So then after field dressing and packing him a little ways downhill and with the lace to my boot breaking(not fun) i finally got back with my first ever buck. Sorry for my poor story telling 1000004852.jpg

what did you paint it with?

The cheapest white spray-paint I can buy.

Oh ya, I forgot, I superglue those teethe after it dried and before I paint. I just squirt some superglue into the sockets and on the teethe so that the jaw does not come off....

I use 2 tubes of harbor freight superglue per deer head.
