Dead is good. Proof that public involvement in teh process works. The Butte guys tshirts should become collectors items. I wonder how uncomfortable it is for certain slimy politicians to have to chose to attempt to save their future political aspirations vs. satisfy the powers that ideologically and financially back their campaigns

I bet there are some worried guys in the House right now, wishing they had not voted for that piece of crap. Had they killed it in the house they could have avoided the pain coming their way in 2012.

Desperation? Afterall, the Proponents have probably seen and heard the small chitstorm this created. Maybe a sense on their part that their chances to get this done are slipping away???

They have lost judicial battles, now they are losing their attempt to adjudicate from the legislature via their little puppets. After the whoopin' the puppets have received on this little joint venture, I doubt (I better be careful here - famous last words) that the next legislative body will be so eager to pick up the (deflated) ball. The Huey's and the UPOM's of the world have been delivered a pretty strong message by the Montana public. I guess we will all see if this is this story's epilogue, or the start of the next crappy chapter.

Just caught wind there is an effort to blast this out of committee on to the floor. Looks like the fight continues.
It sounds like they will try and get the tabling motion recinded and move the bill out of committee.
Write the Senate Ag committee asking them to respect the voters of MT and please keep HB 309 tabled!

I am so tired of this crap. We fight it in the House Committee, we fight it on the House floor, we fight it in the Senate Committee and get it killed only to have it come back to life to have to fight it again in Committee and possibly on the Senate Floor,,,pure crap!

Can you explain how they can even do that? I don't understand the process enough. I thought once it was tabled = the end.

Tabling a bill doesn't really kill it. What the motion did was set the bill aside, and allow the committee to move on to other issues. It's kind of like taking a pass at the decision. They can make a motion to take the bill off the table, and resume discussions about it, try to amend it, and then try to pass it out of committee.
The other way that they can get a tabled bill out of committee is by "blasting" it out. That requires a majority vote on the floor of the chamber that it is currently in (in this case, the senate).
