I had skin cancer (melanoma) when I was only 18. I always wear long sleeves and wide brimmed hats. It’s usually a boonie hat while hunting. Here’s a picture of my Resitol. View attachment 225414

I have one exactly like that. Haven't worn it in maybe twenty years. Gets dirty too easily.

This one has been my go to everyday hat, in winter mostly. Crushable wool is very easy maintenance. Wish it had a leather inside liner band instead of fabric. Leather stays put better. Bought it at a grocery store in Oakhurst, CA thirteen years ago when I was working at Yosemite.

When i turned 21 i bought a fith of jack daniels for deer season. I was a beer man mostly in school and of course i drank too much and was yacking my guts out and passed out by 8pm. My dads buddy gave me the hat below below saying i deserved it more than him. My dad and all his hunting buddies are gone now. It always brings a smile to my face when i break it out of the bag for gun season. I have worn it every year since and will turn 50 next year.

The Fort Smith/Compton hat is pretty damn funny if you’re at all familiar with this part of Montana. 10/10.

The overwhelming percentage of the time outdoors, I wear a ball cap. I have them from totally trashed to as new.

Since the thread calls for something else here a few times when a ball cap wasn't the hat of the day.



I wore that wool hat for many years, it was still in its prime, as was I.



If it's too cold for a ball cap, a railroader hat of some color is what goes on the top of my head.

And if the sun is too intense the wide brimmed hat I wear is this one.
