My youngest son Hadley turns 7 in a couple weeks and has been hunting hard. Youth season brought no deer for him and his youngest older brother threw up in blind. Rifle season comes he hunts Monday night I harvest a grey fox, no deer, Tuesday no deer, Wednasday no deer off Thurs, Friday I hunt by myself with a buddy from church. Satuday morning is 25 degrees he's right there with me with no complaints, no deer in his effective range but did see a six point and spike, evening hunt no deer, Sunday church, Sunday evening no deer other two brothers see a large 7 point they can't get on. Through all of this he has never whined or complained about not seeing deer has sat still and quiet, never complained about being cold always upbeat, I told him last night I was sorry we hadn't seen deer and he said it's just fun to be out here with you dad. Tonight rain coming in tommorow so I thought deer would move, sat for a good while and this is his last night as he goes to his aunts house tommorow night on the last day at 4:45 he says lets go to truck he wanted to give up I pep him up and tell him how proud I am of how he had hung in there and not to give up we'll see a deer. It gets dark here at about 5:20 and a 5 after 5 I look up in the field and there is a doe. How happy am I just for him to have and chance to shoot one. We get him set up and he make after a little adjustment a perfect shot at 75 yards through heart clipped one lung. His reaction was priceless. When we got home so was moms as every night she had hopes but nothing. He walked in tonight with his hands in his pockets and a long face and she says sorry buddy no deer then he whips his bloody hands out of his pockets. Here is his pic.

Congrats, Hadley! Been seeing a lot of great pics with kids with big smiles, because their Dad's are raising them right.

That young man has more patience and determination than anyone I know under 20, and most of the adults I know!
Congratulations Hadley on a fine deer and hanging in there to get the job done! I love it!
