WHAT AN AWESOME MULE DEER!! Congrats man! That's a terrific buck for MT, even for a rifle deer. To take one with a bow that size is really something!! BIG congratulations.

Why did you strip the velvet? That would make a really great mount in the velvet.. not that it won't stripped, but a big velet buck would be really neat.

Thanks GH. I have never been a fan of velvet mounts. At least the ones I have seen start to look a little rough over the years. I did see one that had a fake velvet put on the rack, but it didn't look very natural (go figure).

I am very happy with this buck and you don't see many of them around here that size (I wouldn't feel bad if they stopped hunting them in the rut, I am sure it would improve the trophy potential in MT).

The guy that was traveling with this fellow was not as wide, but may have scored better since he had good fronts as well. Hopefully he survives this year, although I know this area is outfitted pretty hard. $3,800/gun is way out of my league.
