If I'm elk hunting 338 win mag. If I'm deer hunting 7x57 or one of the swedes. If I'm actually grouse hunting sxs stoeger 20. That somehow doesn't happen often enough.

The rock has to be big enough that it can't easily bob and weave out of the way.

I used a McNeil core sampler once.

ruger red 20 ga. Wish I lived in a state that has so many grouse you can getem with rocks. You have to hunt hard to findem in pa.

I have a shack in the middle of the best ruffed country there is..... 'bout 20 miles out of Park Falls WI. Last year, my best routes would yield 8 to 10 flushes an hour. I use a Browning Citori 12 gauge White Lightning. I wish it was a 20 gauge Citori, those are even faster. Speed is what you need here, and Citoris let me have it. Whatever you get, be able to shoot it in 1 second.

I use my grandpa's old 12 gauge Model 12. More sentimental then anything. It is old, heavy and kicks like a mule. I am finally thinking of getting a smaller gun for grouse and chuckar. I would also like to get a turkey gun but it will be hard, going out with out my old model 12.
