It’s a drawing that a friend sent. He knows about Belles age. We have hunted quail for years in SW New Mexico with his two English setters and of course Belle. We cherish our dogs, hunting companions and friends. The sketch embodies my feelings regarding my Belle and dogs that have to heaven. MTG

6 covey day yesterday. Took a few pics. Only ran the one field. It’s been better than earlier in the season, getting points every outing, but covey sizes are small - 44 birds over the 6 coveys. Last season there was ~100 birds in this single field this time of year. I could’ve flown a falcon and had enough game to keep me going, but, oh well, Greta is having fun regardless of any bird-on-bird violence transpiring.

And so it begins again. Picked up new 7 week old female lab puppy last evening. I had forgotten how much work they can be, for two of us. She slept all night and in the morning crapped all over her bed and cage before we could get her outside. Oh well. The duties of taking care of a puppy. We named her Chloe after another dog long gone. More to follow.
