Gratuitous Bird and Dog Photos

The problem you have is you didn't have a younger dog backing him up. I almost quit on bird dogs when I lost my old Springer, Skipper about 1984. Went looking foe a pup and finally occurred to me I wasn't looking for a pup but was looking for Skipper. That was long ago and since then I always have a min two dogs around anymore, one about half the age of the older one. The older one dies on me and a younger one takes up the slack sort of! I have three Red Setter's today. Stormy is 11 yrs now. His son Snicker is a bit over 4 and his daughter, Abby just past two. Gonna be tuff loosing Stormy but Snicker and Abby will help me along!
we do the same

More gratuitous puppy shots. A bit goofy due to a wide angle.

This pic is only to demonstrate why my dogs wear orange and a GPS collar. The grass is extra thick and tall this year, with it being over 8 ft in many areas and visibility can be down to as low as 3 ft. Most areas are not that thick but a small golden can disappear in even the short grass (3-4 ft tall) like this.

Should have been one more on the rock but apparently I put one between my vest and my back instead of inside my vest
One in hand isn't always better then two in the bush when you do that! ha. That happened to @BrentD and I a few years ago. We think a hawk or something nabbed one off the roof of the truck between outings. Should be a sixth in this pic. Was the last day of season, and my boy was home injured.
