Sooo.... I'm not a Big duck or Goose eating fan but I love to knock them down. So I embarked on a 831 Mile weekend experience by traveling to Eastern Idaho to Knock some Geese down on opening morn'. The place we got permission was a Stubble field that someone also got permission on. So leaving 3AM from pocatello to get their early I felt wasn't a bad Idea.
We get to the field and start setting up :
After we set up we drove across the field and parked the rigs. We still had ample time to Mess around. As we got back to the blinds we had about 20 mins of dark left we seen 2 other rigs pulling in to the field. We turned on the flashlight just to show we were there and they stopped. Now, We wouldn't have minded sharing the field, but we didn't want to get run over. So the truck stopped for abut 30 seconds and backed out and went to the next field we all had permission on. So All was OK I figured.
So the sun came up :
The moon was still out but the Geese were Flying only 10 mins or so After legal shooting time. I think the Constant Rumble from opening morning shooting from Mud LAke drove the Geese into the air earlier then normal.
The shooting was Good and the birds dropped quick. it didn't take but a few Flights and we had our limits. I don't think the guys in the other field were to happy as the Geese flew over their setup and landed in our laps. Sometimes being in the right place helps I guess ?!?!! they even took some hail mary shots at some that were going over just to have them come over to us.
I almost felt bad ...
Even as we were breaking down the decoys the geese were flying still.... Some even still wanted to land.
