Gobble gobble Spring Turkey 2025

@Sheltowee I know you will appreciate this. I've watched it probably 300 times and I still laugh my ass off.

Where did you find this video of me as a child.

The rooster in question shared a farm with an old English setter that he messed with one too many times. One day, the owner found a puff of feathers across the front yard and an avenged bird dog relaxing in the shade. Never saw that damn bird again.

I’m looking forward to hunting with my adult son, maybe to have him get his first turkey with a bow. And I will mentor ( https://outdoormentors.org/ ) several kids as well. Last year my personal season lasted less than 90 minutes in the field as the old boy crossed the road and strutted along the top of the watershed dam to meet his destiny.

All I can think about today is slobberknockin' a gobbler. Watching highlight reels in my mind of past hunts.
Not much work getting accomplished today.
You ain't lying! 75 degrees here today and saw 3 stutters on the way home from work. My trigger finger is getting mighty itchy! Still have over 4 more weeks to wait for opener!

I heard some hens yelping right before dark tonight, but no gobbles. I was at a taxidermist this afternoon and he was working on a turkey from last year. It got me fired up! I also ate the last of my turkey breast for lunch. Smoked then seared until about 155!

Drove by a couple spots this morning to do some glassing only saw 2 birds but both longbeards. They were just entering the field as I pulled up at about 100 yards and we surprised each other. They waddled of like overweight velociraptors to the other end of the field. Tried to get them to gobble but they weren't having any of it.
