I know very little of the speaker or sponsor, but I just saw this and figured it might interest some of the MT folks close to Bozeman.
Wilderness and …Bighorn Sheep and Mountain Goat Conservation and Research in the Northern Rockies will be presented October 22, 2014, at 7.00 PM in the Bozeman Public Library Community Room. Dr. Robert Garrott, Director of Fish and Wildlife Ecology and Management Program, Ecology Department, MSU, will present an overview of Bighorn sheep and Mountain goat conservation and management in the Northern Rockies. This program is sponsored by the Madison-Gallatin Chapter of the Montana Wilderness Association.
Dr. Garrott will describe some of the challenges various natural resource agencies are facing with respect to these two mountain ungulates. The presentation will describe two major research initiatives addressing these challenges, one in the Greater Yellowstone Area and the other across the State of Montana. Major ecological topics will be covered including the competition between the two species, population dynamics, seasonal movements and spatial ecology, climate change, and disease.
