Goat score

I would wait to see if you shoot a bigger one this year in Colorado before wasting time getting all excited about the Alaska goat...

A new state record, eh? The biggest goat killed in CO is almost an inch smaller, with second place being over 2" smaller.

Mounted or not

You will not have to wait on your mount ... most trophies that make it to the banquet are mounted.

I don't like the logistics of moving a lifesize mount either.

Here's what Reneau said about mounting.

Goats are difficult to score once they are mounted because of the large, hard gland posterior to the base of the horn. It is nearly impossible to get the tape between the horn and the gland. Many goat trophy owners mount the horns on a plaque until after the judges panel meets and verifies the score.

Nice pic of this goat, and the hunter in my new edition of Fair Chase Magazine. Congrats, Oak. A very good field photo, for sure.

Also see Greenhorn's pronghorn listed in the current entries, along with one of his buddy's from WY.
