Giving up tracking??

I understand not wanting to stomp through a “sanctuary”. However, once you have a hit animal there you need to exhaust all resources to recover the animal. He is either lazy or incompetent. If he lost an animal after an honest effort that’s ok. Because he doesn’t want to mess up a future hunt that is B.S.

Having an open mind, maybe he was giving it time to stiffen up before tracking it down and finishing it. Going too early on a gut shot is also illogical. Wasn't there, didn't hear the conversation, can't pass judgement. There is an area I hunt that is roughly 40 acres and it is a good bedding area because no one else gets to hunt there by the landowners wishes. I only hunt the fringe. Not everything is black and white.

id call the game warden. That’s two back to back and a trend. Hopefully he will go hiking through the sanctuary
lets pump the brakes, fire up the dji app, pull the joysticks diagonally down and inward towards each other, get the rotors spinning and take a look at this situation from 400ft above.
I know gw's don't need warrants, but do you really want law enforcement officers stomping around an individuals private property because his neighbor thinks he might've maybe not tracked a deer well enough?

"hello!!! is this the Laramie county highway patrol?!?!?! My name's Derek, my neighbor just told me that he rolled the stop sign on the corner of first and main, can you please go investigate?!?!?! I'm outraged and a little bit scared!!!"

Choosing to stop tracking a deer is a tough decision that no ethical hunter takes lightly. To stop tracking because a deer goes into the “sanctuary” on any property is ludicrous at best. Not knowing what the guy was seeing for blood or sign it’s hard to know.

Why are we giving this guy an out? He was dumb enough to tell you exactly what he was doing and probably has done repeatedly. That’s evidence. Why are we saying he might be lazy or waiting the deer out? He told you what he was doing. Why are we looking to make it better than it was?

This doesn’t make it better, and if you let it go you reinforce the behavior. He then knows you’re okay with his behavior.

This 100% I would call the law on his a$$. Good game wardens take this stuff very seriously. That guy better hope there isn't a bullet in that deer still.

Same. Animals getting left to waste makes my blood boil like only a few other things. Especially if he is gonna go tell people about it. Likely means it is the norm for him and not a one off.
A total lack for remorse in the situation is concerning. I'm not a fan of calling law enforcement in most situations but I feel this is one I would too.

Ive lost an animal and still feel sick about it. I'm not sure how anyone can mentally justify taking life in that fasbion comfortably. Not that it matters - but there's not even a predator around that would make a meal of it.

You shoot it you get it. You don't find it and you know you shot it, you don't shoot another. That was your tag IMO

He'll go in there after season, find his buck and post some sad story on his social media accounts.
Then get all three bucks he shot mounted as deadheads and not have to go through the effort of processing any of them or punching a tag.

Time to call in the drone recovery crew...
Illegal here still. Thank God. But I'm sure it's coming. You should here all the crying about it. StUPid DNr DONt wanT Us to FINd are DEer! I mean after all these years of being shotgun only, we've recently turned it into straight walled rifle and and crossbow during archery. You know cuz deer hunting is too hard. The least we can do is get the drones out. Hopefully soon we can just get thermal optics on the rifle. Maybe then everyone can fill a whitetail tag a little easier...yup, you struck a nerve. Lol
