Getting Ready For Hunting Season

Now is a good time to introduce pup to any hunting items so pup becomes used to them: boats, boat ramps, vests, dog boots, blinds, etc.

I trim the vest so there is no rubbing in the arm pit areas (or use an adjustable vest like MoMarsh).
I also introduce pup to the jet sled and steadiness with pup sitting about 10 yards behind me.
I hunt with pup sitting in a jetsled behind me so pup does not get muzzle blast, pup is warm and dry, and can see all the marks.

That’s beautiful. I’ve never gone after ducks or geese, and I wonder if my golden would actually retrieve if I got one

There are goldens in our training group that retrieve domestic mallards all summer long.
There are retriever clubs in Billings, Helena, Missoula, and Ronan if your close to any of those areas?

Are your retriever clubs akc or hrc?

Both. AKC hunt tests and field trials, HRC hunt tests. And NAHRA hunt tests over the mountain at Spokane.
