From the public comments: General season needs to start in November and run into December because of climate change. animals have changed their patterns and not very many animals are being harvested from October to November. Hunting helps control the population. If animals are not being taken during general season, there's a good chance several animals may have a slow and painful death from starvation. Our weather patterns have been changing over the last several years. It's time for general season to change It's pattern also. There's not enough snow to push elk from the high country and temperatures are not cold enough to get the rut going. Most of the time, deer are just beginning to start rutting when general season is ending.

Is there an actual structure to these meetings? How did we go from talking about CWD in region 3, to deer numbers in region 6, to listening to a Footloose henchmen from Butte in the last 15 minutes?

Those were just the commissioner reports. They open each meeting with these. Just giving a summary of goings-on in their region since the last meeting.

Laugh all you want, but the agency and Commission seriously considered extending the season like this when they had their big simplification two years ago.
