LMFAO I think that is funny...Dont know Much about this michael Moore but you made me smile today and having the day I am having I really needed it!!!!
Everyone knows I think very little of Michael Moore or his so-called documentaries, but "Nazi?" Come on. What did they do, pick an evil-sounding movement out of the history books and decide that Moore MUST be one of those? Puh-leez.
Actually, the Nazi reference is just continuing on a theme at that website, refering to the things the Nazi propaganda machine, yellow journalism and Michael Moore have in common. See the spin Joseph Goebbels puts on the first year of Nazi control in Germany:
But now we raise our hearts and see with satisfaction that a year of success is behind us, and that the blessing of heaven has fallen on the German people. Our whole hearts rejoice. It is a kind of joy that looks back with pride in what has been accomplished, and that gives strength for new plans and decisions. The powerful movement that has seized the entire German people in the past year is a movement of life that is filled with a firm and faithful optimism that gives endurance and strength. We Germans have once more learned to love life in all its splendor. We affirm it and accept all its demands, be they hard and pitiless. National Socialism affirms life, it does not deny it. We draw from it the joyful strength that so wonderfully fills us in the last hours of the passing year.
No one is left out. It fills the festive streets of the great cities and the lonely alleys and paths of our German villages. It fills huts and palaces, the rich and the poor. It fills the heart of the lonely wanderer who greets the new year in the snow-capped and towering mountains, or those who are part of the crowds on Berlin's Unter den Linden. It was a blessed year. The German people found themselves once more, and regained a hope that lets them look confidently into the coming year.
It's too much fun to make fun of Moore and his supporters to silence him! Intellectual geniuses like Demi Moore ( any relation?) would object to silencing such a mental giant, anyway.
Besides, if we let him be silenced, then the same people wouldn't let me post funny pictures of him, either.
As long as we all agree that Freedom of Speech and Freedom of Press are protected, and we don't have idiots wanting to shoot reporters...
Personally, I feel any comparisons to Nazis and/or the Holocaust should not be made lightly, and those who do are complete idiots. 6 Million Jews were killed by somebody who wanted to silence people, absolutely no humour in that.
For that website to even attempt to compare Moore to Nazism is wrong. I have to question if we should even have links and information from such an offensive website in SI.
I find Moore offensive and I think we should eliminate all mention of him. But this is America and we are free to voice our opinions - despite the fact that you are obviously wrong if you disagree with me.
Yes, the "Holocaust" was a great trajedy, but no more so than the Turk-Armenian, Serb-Muslim, American Indian decimation, African slave trade or hundreds, perhaps thousands, of other genocidal events in human history.
Nazism is about more than the Holocaust, unfortunately. Referring to the effectiveness of Nazi progaganda and comparing someone to that issue is not trivializing the Holocaust, and it is a stretch to make that connection.
This must be another topic that we could argue about all day - how many Native Americans were here before Columbus, Cortez, etc. and how many were alive in 1900? What percentage of Jews in the world were killed by the Nazis? How many Russians were killed by Stalin? How many degrees of horror do you need, and why is one worse than another?
on the political spectrum Michael Moore would be the anti nazi. He may be an extremist but to compare him to a Nazi shows a lack of understanding of what a Nazi is and what a the Nazi party stands for.
All Native Americans who were here before Columbus were dead in 1900....
And you are right about this topic and what atrocity makes which atrocity seem mild.
I guess the Nazi/Holocaust references should not be taken lightly. I read people like ElkCheese and his recent comments on Hitler, and I realize how many people don't understand the Holocaust, and for them to take it lightly, is offensive.
Is everthing this exciting, theres a million things that are and were trajedy's lets not take to much of this to heart, And for the record I had distant relatives that were casualties of the holocaust (Dads side) but this if suppose to be entertaining posts and shouldn't offend anyone. Freedom of speech remember!!!
Quote: All Native Americans who were here before Columbus were dead in 1900....
As someone whose grandmother was Native American, I find your humor on this subject offensive and obviously you do not understand the tragedy of that episode of human events or you would not treat it lightly.
I think we can all agree that you are much smarter than the website you linked to, and you can read thru. But others are not that bright, and actually believe the misinformation you post. (Remember when ElkCheese beilieved you on Kerry and the Heinz Company???)
