We’ve been “glamping” in the backyard. The Christmas lights in the tent are nice, thinking about getting one of those big battery packs to run them off grid.
Discovered the cot isn’t comfortable without a pad. Still figuring out the stove.

Today I caught my biggest trout so far, but I’ve only ever caught two or three before this one, then we caught about 15-16 smaller ones and kept 8.
I was using a micro light pole and reel with 4lb test. Super fun! The wife outfished me for a change, she was tearing them up!

Nice, new handle “stocked trout freak” or “glamping freak” nice setup, most cots need some sort of pad. What brand of tent is it?

I’ve never caught a wild trout. My first rainbow was up in the San Juan and the next were in a reservoir in central CO. These came from the center that stocks most of TX. Catching a tiger trout is on my bucket list.

The tent is a White Duck 13’. Been real impressed with it, it’s stood up to some wind and rain and did well in CO. Easy to set up and take down solo.

If you’ve got power and want some more heat a couple of clamp on chicken coop lights with ir bulbs have been nice for me.

Put a few thermal powered fans on top of your stove.

It’s warmed up a lot and I had promised to make egg McMuffins for breakfast this morning. Outside temps were almost 70 and was just about unbearable in the tent with the stove going and all windows and doors open, but I made it happen.

It’s been pouring rain for a few hours and I need to go see how much has leaked around the stove jack and into the stove.

Just trying to enjoy life when we aren’t working. I spend more days inside either working or staring at a tv screen than I care to admit; I try to make up for it in the fall/winter/spring.

Even if it’s just setting up a tent in the backyard. Gets us out of the house and my daughter getting accustomed to the outdoors.

It poured rain for hours yesterday evening and night. Standing water in the yard. I left the stove set up as a test. Looks like it leaked around the jack as expected but the stove really filled up and leaked out. Fire mat was soaked. Pulled everything out to dry and ran a small fire in stove to dry it and the pipe.

Good test.

Looks like fun! I’ve noticed that Canadians go all in on stringing lights around when they “camp”. Have to admit, for front-country camping I kinda like it

I can’t think of a time I’ve camped in front or back country that I wished I had less light at night. I keep adding light at my established deer camp and wished I had more reading light at elk camp this year.

I do understand the need for darkness too. And maybe as I get older I’m not necessarily scared of the dark, I just need to see what the hell I’m doing…even when I’m asleep.
