Police don't make the greatest wages for what they have to put up with. Shaking my head at any comments anyone has against our men in blue. Anyone who tries to associate police as the enemy is out of touch with reality.

Videos seem pretty reasonable to me. But then again I don't think its reasonable for antifa to destroy a campus or smack people in the head with bike locks, or for black lives matter to chant about killing cops, or for liberals to suggest violence in everything they do and then play the victim card.

Carry on and be outraged.

I think I make decent money, ya sometimes people spit on you (usually turds with hep c), or try to fight you, but hey its a dirty job and somebody has to be the wet nurse for grown human beings. And listen to know it all pompous types that have no idea what your job actually entails and tries to tell you "you need more training". Even though you train monthly and spend your own money and time to train even more than what's required....

But I won't ever complain about how much I make, that's something some idiot that works at taco bell would do. Heck some deputies down south are still making 25-30k a year.

You couldn't pay me twice what you probably make to do what you do. Thanks for the service you provide, keep safe.

How about a (R) Senator candidate on the eve of an election body slaming someone, or an armed take over of federal property?

So the Police have a conviction rate of less than 1%, no one gets locked up for the murders they commit. I don't see many NRA members foaming at the mouth about what happened in Minnesota. What happened to that man was everything you pretend to believe in

I believe that senator was charged, and he pled guilty. Now you're going to have to elaborate on the "armed take over" of public lands, are you referring to bundy? Because I believe they are free loading wing nuts that should be in prison. Unfortunately their prosecution didn't go the way a lot of folks thought it should, but that's the way it goes sometimes.

What happened in Minnesota?

I'm sure you're versed in use of force case law provided by the United States Supreme Court in order to make your very intelligent opinions on use of force by police......

Regardless of whether the accused is a police officer or not, you are dealing with a situation involving the claim of self defense. Whether you like it or not, ANYONE who is accused of murder in a self defense situation is tried under the same set of rules. If there is ANY reasonable doubt, the person is acquitted. This is very difficult for any jury, because it is so difficult to know exactly what was going on in the person's mind. The prosecution essentially must prove there was no fear by the accused of being seriously injured or killed.

There is a huge difference between criminal guilt and civil liability. Officer Yanez was fired, and will likely have a judgement filed against him in civil court. That does not make him criminally guilty. I think it was an entirely bad shoot, but the jury showed a lot of solidarity in their decision. What more do you want? Either the criminal process works or it doesn't, regardless of whether the accused is a cop or not.

Why don't you go flesh out the conviction rate on ALL self defense shootings (involving civilians and police), and then we can compare them and talk. Until then, your 1% conviction rate is a nebulous and meaningless "statistic".

Come on, I never said that news orgs don't have a political viewpoint, only that the ad is an attack on a political viewpoint (left) unrelated to guns. Why do you have to make it personal?

When I was in my teens and twenties the Feds and the UN were "the enemy." Black helicopters were up to no good and Hungarian troops were hiding the Swan Range, ready to attack Kalispell I guess. Good old Wayne La Pierre got involved and said we needed guns to protect us from the government's jack-booted thugs. The paranoia was amusing until McVeigh and Nichols blew up the Oklahoma City Federal building. But even pictures of a fireman carrying a murdered baby couldn't get La Pierre to shut up. It wasn't until Bush publicly resigned his NRA life membership that Wayne was forced to lay low a while.

Maybe it is my age, but I'm not finding these new attacks on the press and (more than) half of our fellow Americans amusing this time. If you can't see the problems with the NRA suggesting arms are needed to protect us from the press and the left, then maybe you are too young to understand that this baseless venom will eventually have consequences. This isn't even about the 2A - it is a direct attack on those who don't support a political viewpoint. If this doesn't get you to tear up your membership, what will?

Rob, I'm confused. I quoted you directly, again. You said, "don't support a political viewpoint." and now you say, "I never said that news orgs don't have a political viewpoint." Please clarify.

Thank goodness this former Montana marine good guy a gun stepped up to the task or those shoplifters wouldn't have been ID's before they were let go. Love the "white mist" from the snowdrift. :D

Now that I've kindled that fire I'm going to go backpack and argue with Siri about whether reporters should open carry around Gianforte. Behave. ;)

There are idiots in all walks of life. Conceal carry permit holders have a lower rate of negligent use of a firearm than the police do. We are a really safe bunch.

Well, if the intent was to divide it has certainly been successful. I am a liberal and I make no bones about it. I am not a libtard just because I don't see things your way. I support the 2nd amendment, and the first. I do not support the NRA because I have seen them turn their backs on democrat representatives with strong second amendment record (James Oberstar of Minnesota) to back an extremely right wing Tea Party candidate. As a liberal I am also opposed to runaway spending and socialism for the rich. Instead of cutting SNAP for kids, reform it so the top five agribusinesses in the US don't collect hundreds of millions each year. As for the media, there is no such thing as fake news. It is either truth, lies, or opinion. Rush does not give news, he gives opinions. Morning Joe is opinion. Fox and Friends is opinion. Good luck finding straight news.

I for one am not willing to be forced into a false dichotomy. Senator Daines is for the 2nd amendment. It also appears that he is playing a significant role in helping a large business claim a public trail to prevent public access to public land. His stance on education is not one, that in my view, is going to help improve education. Some have suggested that their might be a "second amendment solution " for political disagreements. I reject that notion. Use of violence to defend ideology is what leads to ISIS, Timothy McVeigh, the dark ages and the Crusades.

What is more important is that we need to be standing together to solve our problems. I would say that not one of us, right or left, wants to see a 9 year old go hungry from lunchtime on Friday until breakfast on Monday morning because he/she wasn't smart enough to pick good parents. If tax breaks for billionaires were contingent on investments that gave Americans good paying jobs I would jump on board, but the five heirs of Sam Walton could have spent $10,000 a day for every day of their life and never spent all $18,000,000,000 of their fortunes, which are increasing.

As someone else put it, "we don't have a division problem, we have a contempt problem."

Police put their lives on the line, making almost poverty wages everyday to protect disrespectful pieces of shit like you everyday. You're a puke and should be ashamed of yourself.

Internet tough guy!

CCW permit holders rarely deal with criminals and most are never put in a situation when neglect could be an issue. LEO's are in that situation every day.

Comparing the two is silly.

Well folks, you missed a good hike. There's still snow in these hills so I couldn't go as far as I wanted. But...

The sentence causing confusion seems to be: "This isn't even about the 2A - it is a direct attack on those who don't support a political viewpoint."

Maybe if I rewrote it you would see what I am getting at: "This isn't even about the 2A - it is a direct attack on Democrats."

I didn't write it that way because it is bigger than Democrats: the NRA should not be attacking political viewpoint unrelated to guns. Furthermore, they mischaracterized the Left with smears that are invalid for the mainstream. It was dishonest and it hurts our ability to work together. And it has gotten to the point where it is going to blow up someday.

As an example of how they are dishonest, consider Gianforte, Roger Ailes, Bill Oreilly, and President Trump. With their records we can say truthfully "It is a fact that Republicans assault women and the press." While true, it is dishonest to characterize Republicans that way.

I'm tired. I hope that made sense.

Would you do their job for 50K?
And if you would, it sure wouldn't be for the money.
Heck, would you do your job for 50k?

I looked into a deputy job 2 years ago. 36k/yr

The theme from some people seems to be that more guns equal more problems. The fact of the matter is, that millions of people carry every day without incident, and the number of people carrying increases every year!
