During these serious and trying times, people of all faiths should remember these four great religious truths:

1. Muslims do not recognize Jews as God's chosen people.

2. Jews do not recognize Christ as the Messiah.

3. Protestants do not recognize the Pope as the leader of the Christian world.

4. Mormons do not recognize each other at Wendover, Hooters or the Liquor Store.

#4 is Baptists down heayah.;)

This is 'a fifth under the seat' and a 'Vote Dry' sticker on the bumper of the same pickup country.

Once upon a looong time ago when I was stationed in NC...... Go into a store to buy a beverage..... WHAT!!!
You mean I can't buy on a Sunday, I just came back from VN and I can't buy a beer on Sunday? But, in all fairness I couldn't do that in small town Idaho either on a Sunday until several years later.

Yep! Before all those blue laws went away if you wanted a beer or a snort of something stronger you had to find a bootlegger who usually sold it out of his/her kitchen at twice the store price. That's pretty much gone away now.
Every time I see a post from one of you Idaho members it reminds me of my best friend in the service who was from Mackay. When we returned from SEA Mike got out and I re-enlisted and was posted in Denver. One night there came a knock at the door from Mike's wife and her sister on their way back to their home in Wichita. Seems the family had gone on a salmon fishing outing down on the Snake, but Mike never showed up back at home. He was riding his motorbike, and neither the State Patrol or anyone else could find him, so the family members started scouring the roadsides only to find that someone had hit him from the rear, knocking him and the bike down the hillside into a boulder field. Needless to say, Mike didn't survive the encounter. No one was ever caught or 'fessed up to it, so a great friend and person was lost to us all. May the culprit burn in Hell! I really miss my old friend, so if any of you are in Mackay and feel like a beer, hoist one in the memory of Mike.
