Found these today

Yuck. You have some big brass ones to pick that thing up...even with the stick...

I've killed a couple here in N.C., but that one appears to be a little bigger than my biggest. My biggest had 13 rings and a touch over 4'. Actually, my wife and I were hiking and her foot was coming down on it before she pivoted to avoid it. That would have been a bad day since we were 1.5 miles from the truck. One good thing about them is, their not aggressive.

WOW! What a head on that fat boy! The snake...I'm speaking of the snake.

Yikes! I don't care for the prairie rattlers we have, but Southern rattlers no thanks. What is missing is the sound a larger rattler makes,....its pretty much enough to stand my hair on end.Rattlers on my property die, anywhere else I am four steps out of range, mildly curious but mostly want to beat it out of there.:hump:

This one was around 4 ft, but the tan one was bigger. It got out of there as soon as I got out of the truck. The timber rattlers are quite docile, so I've adopted a live and let live policy as long as they are not around the house. Still wouldn't want to step on one......

I've seen more copperheads and rattlesnakes in two months of fishing this summer than I saw the previous 27 years I lived in Virginia. Nothing nearly as impressive as yours though.

If I'd of found them there would be two less snakes in the world. I'm not a fan of any kind of snake but particularly dislike the poisonous kinds. Despite my total distain for snakes those do have some cool colors and markings.

Living in Minnesota has its benefits, and not having to worry about stepping on one of those things is one of them. Even in bluff country, where they are present, they are very rare. I've never seen or heard one and that is just fine by me.
