Fords.... Grrrr

I have no expierence yet with the new 6.7 ford diesel,,our company is too scared to by a ford diesel to even try.believe me ,,Ive been a ford truck guy for a long, long time,,had a 79 with a 460 and loved it ,awesome truck back in the day,,,but I am now a dodge cummins guy now,and love my 2004 I have now.not that they are trouble free either, but ill take a cummins /dodge ..good bye ford.fords do supply me with lots of income from repair work though.

I like Fords but I'll never buy another one. In my experience their warranty and customer service sucks. They seem to have a business model of the customer is always wrong.

Why is Ford always searching for the next best engine, and never getting there? mtmuley

A better question is why did they get rid of their best engine, the 7.3? I know they had their reasons but it was a poor decision.

I drove two different Fords for work, both F150s. The first one had the PCM completely fry, leaving me stranded. Had to load it on a roll back truck, and it was in the shop for two weeks. The same truck, exhaust manifold cracked. Mechanic had to pull the engine to do the work. I turned it in at 130k miles and it was barely running.

The next one was better, but at 75k miles I had a check engine light come one. It was obviously misfiring, and was in and out of the shop numerous times. Dealer finally narrowed it down to burned valves. It was in the shop for two weeks while the pulled the head off the engine and replaced all of the valves at once.

I know this is not indicative of all Fords, but I haven't had the best luck with them.

back in the day the 7.3 diesel was a pretty good set up,,,only really a few issues but relatively reliable except for the cam sensor,,{you older 7.3 guys, always have one of these and a 10 mm wrench in your glove box},,,but then as I understand the feds said the 7.3 was too dirty for emissions and forced ford into the 6.0 powerstroke a bit early,,,before they could fully work the bugs out.thats my understanding of the situation...either way I feel sorry for anybody with the 6.0 powerstroke and all the never ending ,big buck repairs it takes to keep one running.if anybody is thinkin of one,,even cheap,,even free,,,run the other way,,,these are only worth the price of scrap steel.sorry guys

I really like Fords, up until the late 90's when the modular motors replaced the tried and true 300, 302, and 351 in the half-tons.

They also sent hundreds of local jobs straight to Mexico about 10-12 years ago, our small town is still recovering. I do like that they didn't take the bail-out money.

I have a Ranger with over 300k, couldn't say enough good things about those little trucks..

I must've got a lemon because my 6.7 Ford has over 200,000 miles on it and still works hard every day. I bought it 5 years ago with about 35,000 miles in it and haven't had to do any major repairs. I replaced an intercooler hose and had the DEF pump replaced along with regular servicing.

I sold a '98 F150 with the small v8 two summers ago with 180K on the odometer. An odometer that quit working in '08!! Best I can figure that truck had nearly 400K on it when I sold it. Guy who bought it still uses it as a daily driver. Never had a repair bill for more than $1K. Our experiences can guide our bias, I know, but Ford will be getting a look from me the next time I'm in the market for a pickup...

Should turn over 200k on the old 02 sport trac today. And my wife loves her new 2016 f150.

I had an 03 super crew FX4 f150 with the Triton 5.4 until I was rear ended but had 245k on her. I can tell you the Triton is known for blowing spark plugs out stripping the threads and you have to put a sleeve in. I did them one at a time as they went and had been through half the cylinders before she left me.

Overall it was a really good truck and I was going to run it until the wheels feel off. The adjuster was real good to me in that he could of totaled it because depending on how he wrote it up it was within about $50 of total. So, I sold it to a guy for $2k and he rebuilt it and it's still on the road.

I dropped down in size to a Nissan Frontier NISMO package crew cab 4x4.
