At $875 from Northland Shooters Supply, the Origin is a low cost way to get a custom action.I went with a Big Horn Arms Origin action.
Rem 700 pattern on the outside for stock, trigger and scope. All savage on the bolt and barrel.
At $239 for my donor Axis of which i can sell the barrel to recoupe some of the cost. (We'll just say $50 for a figure making the donor action $190ish)
$330 for the Shilen prefit barrel.
$28 for the squared, trued barrel nut.
$30 for the squared, trued recoil lug.
$85 for the Rifle Basix SAV-1 trigger.
I have a barreled action, for less than the cost of just an action.
Heck, i can even throw in the EGW one piece rail ($69) and their high Keystone line of rings ($69). And since i ordered both at the same time you save 10%.
The custom benchrest stock is going to end up about $500.
And i already have the Sightron SIII 10-50X60 LRTD scope. ($750)
So even without optics i'm coming in way less for a finished rifle.
Will it be competitive? Who knows?
But for my use at local matches where i have no aspirations of becoming a National shooter, it'll be fine for me.
BTW,
I have 3 factory Savage take off barrels for sale if anyone is interested. 22-250, 270 Win, 30-06.
