I suggest reading some of the various writers on the subject. I have a comprehensive library of Peter Hathaway Capstick that I have read and will do so again. African Game Trails by Theodore Roosevelt is a very good book. Anything by Robert Ruarke will keep you flipping pages. These I treasure and have been instrumental in my desire to hunt africa. I/we have gone on 2 plainsgame trips, '09 & '11, and are in the planning stage for our return inthe coming years. How about suggesting additional authors on the subject. MTG

Really like Capstick.

Also check out The Man Eaters of Tsavo, by Col. John Henry Patterson (the real story behind "the ghost and the darkness").

In Darkest Africa, by Henry Stanley is a great read as well.

I've read, read, and re-read Ruark so many times, I think I have all of his work memorized.....lol. Something about his style of writing that really connects with me. Not taking anything away from the outdoor writers of today, a few of which I've shared hunting camp with and enjoyed every minute, but would love to have met him!

Just go to Safari Press and look at their listing of books....many are quite good! I love the old dudes tails...

Oh, if you quit dreaming and start planning, Perfect Shot by Robertson is a necessity and African Hunting by Boddington and Flack provides an excellent reference manual for where and what.
