Football General Talk

Reduction in Force for NFL. 🤣 humor though a real piss off toward the true huma. Element of officiating kicked in the nuts again.

Next, MLB umpire and base refs removed... heck AI will call the strikes and balls, stolen base and outs.

Cameras operated by super bad ass AI will definitively eliminate a cherished past time of the human element involved in our major sports.

IMO, pastime human element of officiated eroding... slowly being dismissed. Sad.

I welcome the hawk eye. I think it will be a good tool for plays where the ball is being extended over the goal line, for first downs, or towards the pylon. I don't know how it will help improve the spotting of the football on a 4th and 1 at the 43 yard line and there is a QB sneak and the ball is buried in a mass of 18 bodies.

My biggest frustration with watching football is that they haven't yet completely undermined the refs. I get so sick and tired and upset watching missed calls and non calls have direct outcomes on games. I know they're humans that are trying their best but when I'm watching a game on my 65" 4k UHD and I can see plain as day that a call was missed and it's obvious to everyone on the planet that a call was missed, I'd prefer they use the technology available to make the correct call. I don't think it will ever get that far in football because the NFL is genius and they know they need to leave us little breadcrumbs to b!tch about during the week and to feed all the NFL hysteria and missed calls play a big part in that.

In baseball I do appreciate the human aspect of a pitcher winning an ump over by working a corner. But nowadays with the tech these hitters have at their disposal they all have such finely trained eyes they can spit on balls all day long. Tons of guys who can't hit well have great eyes. I think the electronic strike zone will force more walks and force pitchers to throw over the plate more creating more offense, which would be welcome, in my opinion.

I'd be fine if baseball did away with all the replays, challenges, etc. and went back to old school. I want guys smoking cigarettes and having beers in the clubhouse after games. The nerds don't want that. They more want excel spreadsheets and iPads in the clubhouse.
