Football General Talk

Agree. If a team wants to chance their QB... and the QB is for it...

Here's NFL. It's not flag football.

Packers had a lot of success using a TE instead of the QB. Honestly that makes a lot more sense because this is purely a physics play. More mass, more force pushing and the ball carrier is still part of the push.

There seriously must be a rule against having a team of massive sumo wrestlers that just push the line every single play for at least a 3 yard gain each play and score every drive. I just don't see how you stop it.

I often cringe when I see Hurts sandwiched between a couple of thousand pounds of opposing muscle force.
Most every NFL hit I cringe. I don't know how WRs get hammered, RBs get piled upon, QBs get sacked...

Heck about any contact that dumps a person my wife and I question how TF they get back up ready for the next.

The physical toll. Epic.

It’s been 25 years but those hits were usually the ones that you felt the least in the heat of the game. The next day, not so much.

When they are one of the two teams who use the play while other teams opt not to use it... for safety, it's simple to see McDermott's priorities. Wins over player safety.
You don't see how the other teams choose not to use an overwhelmingly successful play available to them while continuing to maintain their player's safety?
Other teams don't have a QB that can do it. Thsts why FBs and TEs run it for them.

Just because the other team sucks at stopping it, even though they know it's coming and coming from the offensive left, doesn't mean the team should have it taken away. They have something good and the whiners shouldn't get their way simply because they can't stop it. When I was in the Army we didn't stop running during morning PT because some of them couldn't keep up....

Where are you on leather helmets though?
I do not have any genes in the game, much less skin, so I can go either way as long as they wear the same on both sides of the line (including QB). :)

I am not so much against TP for injuries (anyone got numbers to say that it is actually more dangerous than average?). But I do not like that the defense cannot use the same techniques. QB sneak, sure, but not stacked manpower doing a line dance on steroids.

Truthfully, I think it's bs and boring...same as the designated hitter, a simple turnstile boost tweak.
