Football General Talk

Lions, Eagles, Packers, Rams & TB good enough to beat us on any given Sunday. On a neutral field I would only have the Eagles as a favorite over us. As for AFC opponent in Super Bowl. Chiefs, Bill & Ravens are good enough to beat us. I would probably have all three of them as neutral field favorites.
Even I am more optimistic than that.

I would not rate the Eagles or the Bills or the Ravens above the Vikings on a neutral field.

Or like playing his starters on a meaningless Monday night and risking another major injury. If Goff, Jahmyr or St. Brown get hurt he should be fired on the spot.
I’m not a fan of sitting starters, but I’m for playing starters conservatively and wisely. Where do you draw the line on participation? Teddy bridgewaters career was basically ended by a non contact injury in a walkthrough. These are professional athletes, there is a certain amount of risk in everything they do.

That's the attitude, I share it.

How else can you break your heart, if you aren't all in. Nobody really talks up the Vikings in the national media. 14 wins in a season does not happen unless you are pretty, pretty, pretty good.

I think the Vikings coaching staff measures up to any in football. Darnold is not the first QB they have resurrected. I also like the aggressive defense they play.

Risk in crossing the street, but that is not at all relevant. It is about minimizing unnecessary risks. Every time a football player enters the field of play there is an x% chance of injury. When a game matters you take that risk every time. But when it is essentially a pointless exhibition you don't take the risk. It is simple risk/reward logic. There is a risk, and no reward, easy choice. If they come out healthy it only cost them a day of rest (which isn't zero at this point in the season). But if they add any injuries that is entirely on the coach and his silly bravado.

I’m not a fan of sitting players. Given the competitive nature of professional athletes I’m going to guess most of them are not either. I’m not saying they need to get 100% of the snaps or even 50% but for some of these teams, like the packers, they’ve worked all season to get in a cohesive rhythm as a team and to not get those game reps in as a unit would be detrimental to their playoff success.

Bye weeks are coveted by the players. Only fans on the couch and commentators that need sound bites think an extra game this late in the season is good for any player.

Did you see his game on Christmas? It was a good one, though I only saw a little bit.

The NFL is the big bully in the TV room however. I wonder how much longer that will last?
We're on page 386 Brent...I'd say it's pretty good spit & whittle fodder

The nfl record after a bye this season is 15 wins-17 losses. Your Vikings are part of the 17. My packers and the lions are apart of the 15.

Every employee no matter the profession covets a day off. Are we at our best performing the first couple days back or we are running around frantically trying to get back in a routine?
