Football General Talk

Are the Dallas Cowboys the American equivalent of the British monarchy?

Lots of drama. Lots of money. People love em. People hate em. Disproportionate amount of media coverage compared to their actual influence. Ongoing debate about whether they're relevant in this day and age. Led by a white-haired dude who's been around forever....

Still all Cowboys talk? mtmuley
Agreed! We are focusing too much on how bad the Cowboys are. What about we focus on how good the Bucs are? They made the Cowboys starters look like a practice squad. Shaq Barrett is such a bad man, he only had to give Dakota little more than a high five and he is out for 2 months. The Bucs Defense played so tough they limited Elliot to only 52 more yards than I had Sunday.

Enough talk about the trash that Dallas puts on the field. More focus on how good everyone they play against will look.

The Bucs ain't that good either. And, it's one game. Losing your starting QB is difficult. 16 games left. But, keep the Cowboys talk coming. Love it. mtmuley

There will be more Cowboy talk as surely as the sun rises tomorrow. It isn't nice to kick when some one is down, but sometimes it sure is fun, especially when the rent is free.

There will be a time to ridicule the Vikings and their fans, but it isn't today. Vikings fans, me included, know it will end badly at some point. Somehow Cowboy fans hold on to hope, despite ample evidence they aren't very good, and haven't been for a good long while.

This is correct. I am a 60 yo lifelong Vikings fan and I wasn’t comfortable yesterday until the final 2 minutes.

406, that is what being a fan is about. mtmuley
The BEAUTIFUL thing about being a rent free Cowboy hater is there is so little risk of eating crow. The Patriots have served crow to their haters with regularity. That does garner a measure of respect, if not affection.

Wish I would have known you in the 90's. I was insufferable. I'll remember you said this. And, who is your team again? mtmuley

Just got back from another run to Duluth today. Den/Sea is a great game to watch. People were down on Wilson, but he is playing lights out and at a hell of a pace. Not a surprise to me. I'm a believer in Wilson being one of the elite, but Geno Smith? Who saw that coming?

Yesterday, Dak looked horrible. Getting injured for 1/2 the season might be a blessing for Jerry. Or not. But he wasn't adding anything to their chances in game 1. Brady looked very predestrian at best, to my uneducated eye. Lots of other surprises in the QB department, but none more surprising or inspiring than Rodgers.

Wilson lights out?
What did you think of that last drive? Looks pretty darn good to me. They only got a few points, but he was moving them fast, giving the defense little time. Some good throws, some good decisions. Let's just say he looks a lot better today than Brady, or Rodgers, or Murray, or Burrows, or Pearson, or a host of others looked yesterday.
