Food for thought

Inflation sucks, but given your job. I would say in many ways just having something coming in is a win because the Fed literally tried to kneecap the construction space and it kept churning along. Hopefully there is some catchup for you now. We are starting to see real results in measurements, but individual attitudes remain stuck.

Hardly kneecapping electrical construction with the IRA....

And electrical consumption for every category at all-time highs with warnings the infrastructure can't meet future demand. I see it more of an issue of people not wanting to pay the price for electricity that would include future buildout. They want their lights and AC on for as cheaply as possible.

Yes, that sounds like a great economy to me.
Context. We didn't see unemployment hit 10% when the Fed battled inflation like the 70-80's. Remember the predictions of the recession that never happened? Individually, everyone has their own story, but the overall sentiment doesn't match the charts. This is a great economy and we need to admit that because it might not get better. On inflation, gasoline (RBOB) prices back to same price as 10yrs ago.

That's context too. I just got the best contract we've ever seen. Doesn't even come close to keeping up with the prices across the board. Saying it could always be worse doesn't mean things are great. I'm out on this one. Gonna be an interesting evening.

This is key. People don’t understand consequences of the alternative if you avoid them. It’s hard to say “let the economy crash so they have a baseline.” Generally I think we have become soft. I’m sure anyone that lived through the great depression would agree.

Believe it or not, a few people other than yourself already knew exactly what the video was trying to portray. Tribalism is the Achilles tendon of the human race.
Absolutely. They must have cut out the respondents that claimed the rash was caused by the Russians or Chinese or Ukranians and the cream was a government/pharmaceutical company conspiracy to control our thoughts. 😂

But yeah, more data.

I don't believe in conspiracy theories...anymore than I believe in coincidences.

Actually the point is more nuanced. It makes the point that the more skilled/knowledgeable actually fight the data even more than just the normal partisan

I see this as, more than anything, a waste of taxpayer dollars.

Confirmation and disconfirmation bias has been demonstrated over and over for decades, and it's not necessarily about tribalism.

Any strongly held belief requires an overwhelming amount of data to overcome it, e.g. beans in chili. Them's fightin' words in some parts.

This adds nothing to the body of knowledge.
